Acrylic Landscapes

After my initial foray into acrylics with still life and portraiture, I decided what I really wanted to do is render some of what I see around me here in New England. Everyone does a ligthhouse at some point or other, so there’s that. However, I also see lots more of the world I see to render in paint on paper, and working larger than before. I only work with four tubes of paint; red, yellow, blue and white. From these I mix all my colors to match what I see. In that sense, I deconstruct colors I want to wind up with down to the primaries plus white.

West Quoddy Head Light is the easternmost point in the U.S. I figured every Maine artist has to paint a lighthouse at some point, so here’s mine. It came out just as I had intended.
